According to HBO Max, the feature will "tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations." The cast will include Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Chris Columbus, and many more. The special also will air on WarnerMedia’s TBS and Cartoon Network in Spring 2022.

"It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film, and witnessing how it has evolved into this remarkable interconnected universe has been magical, to say the least. This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon—from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later," said Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics, in a statement.

The Executive Producer, Casey Patterson, said, "There’s magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films." Apart from exclusive cast conversations, the reunion special will also explore the behind-the-scenes magic and the process that went into the making of every Harry Potter movie.

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the first film in the Harry Potter series, a scale model cake of the Hogwarts castle—6ft wide, 5ft tall, weighing 100kg—went on display at the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Leavesden, Watford, where much of the franchise was filmed. It took cake sculptor Michelle Wibowo roughly 320 hours to create and was made with vegan-friendly ingredients. The extravagant cake was donated to One Vision, a local charity fighting food poverty.

"This has undoubtedly been my biggest challenge yet and has involved many long days and late nights. But, it's been worth it to see the reaction today as the fans witnessed it for the first time and were served the first slices," revealed Michelle Wibowo. Enoch Kanagaraj, Founder and Chief Executive of One Vision, said: "Hundreds of our service users and key workers will be delighted to receive a piece."
