7 last-minute Halloween costume ideas inspired by 2022’s shows

Halloween is only a few days away, and if like us you’re also scrambling to find the right costume that is not boring or cliché, then turn to this list for inspiration—from Euphoria’s glam look to The Dropout’s all-black number.

Euphoria

If your idea of a Halloween outfit is to tap into your inner diva and be a bit risky, then Maddy from Euphoria will be the perfect character to dress up as. Think dramatic and glittering eye makeup along with the slinkiest outfit you can find. That’s it!

Wednesday Adams

Even though the show hasn’t released yet (it comes out in November), the movie it is based on—The Addams Family—is a Halloween classic in its own right so you’ll have no trouble with people recognising your costume. If you’ve got long hair, tie it into two braids, or get a wig. For the outfit, pick a white shirt with the most dramatic collars and wear a simple black dress on top. Black lipstick and a pair of Mary Janes (black chunky heels or loafers would do too) take the look to the next level.

Bridgerton

Feel like the diamond of the season by making the most of the ongoing regency core trend. Slip on a corset-style top and a satin skirt or go the Empire waist dress route. Whatever you pick, don’t forget to accessorise with plenty of pearls and a pair of dainty gloves.

The Dropout

Unlike the others, The Dropout is based on the real-life story of failed entrepreneur, Elizabeth Holmes, which is a tale of horror in itself. The best part, this is probably the easiest outfit that you can put together; quicker than it takes to say “Theranos”. Start with an all-black outfit, which will include a turtleneck, blazer, pants and shoes. Finish it with a bold red lippie and you’re done!

The Bear

This was the year we all collectively had a crush on the totally toxic but extremely good-looking chef Carmen from The Bear. While this one is best for the guys, even girls will have no trouble pulling it off—all you need is a sexy fitted white tee, a blue apron, and plenty of charisma á la Carmen to bring this easy-peasy fit together. Bonus if you’ve got the chops for cooking!

Emily in Paris

Lilly Collins’ Emily came through with many memorable looks in the show, so you’ll have no problem picking one according to what you have in your wardrobe. From mixing patterns and prints to statement dresses, she wore it all. Our tip? Don a mini skirt and blazer, pair them with thigh-high boots and top it off with a beret. You’ll look like you just stepped out of season three of Emily in Paris, and no one will be able to tell otherwise!

House of the Dragon

To channel Queen Alicent from the show, pick a fluid long-sleeved dress in any shade of green, which is her signature colour. Wear a star necklace and add a toy sword if you can get your hands on it. Complete the costume by curling your hair into waves to look every part the menacing monarch and you’re good to go!
