Yes, These Stunning Wedding Photos Were Seriously Taken by a 9-Year-Old

​Think back to the last wedding you attended. More than likely, the photographer was an adult with many years of experience snapping couples in love. That's why I was shocked to find out these professional-level photos were actually taken by 9-year-old Regina Wyllie​ of Ayrshire, Scotland.

When Scottish couple Gemma and Eric Smith were planning their wedding, they didn't want just any wedding photographer. They wanted someone unique.

"Over the years, Regina tagged along to quite a lot of shoots, but I never thought about taking her to a wedding, even though I knew her photography skills were pretty good," explained Regina's dad Kevin Wyllie, who owns KSG Photography​. Instead, the Smiths approached Kevin about having his daughter photograph their special day. "She has skills and we want ours to be the first wedding she shoots," the couple told Kevin. 

Regina first started to show interest in photography when she was only 3 years old and asked to come to shoots with her dad. "She lifted my Canon G9 compact camera from my bag and started taking some snaps," said Kevin. "After that, she just started taking cameras from my bags and asking me to show her how to take photos.​"

Over the years, Regina's basic understanding of photography developed into a real skill; it's now basically impossible to differentiate her work from that of a photographer who is older than her. She has an eye for capturing the beauty in simple things and the knowledge of how to use advanced camera settings. 

"I have never forced her to shoot and prefer to wait for her to ask questions or to show me an image that she is curious about," explained Kevin. 

While I can't help but fawn over Regina's talent, the rising star was surprisingly calm during her first wedding shoot. "I watched as she set up shots that I wished I'd seen, but there's no way I could copy my daughter, so I just let her get on with it," explained Kevin in a viral Facebook post.

For example, after he finished photographing the bride's shoes, he let Regina take her turn. She put the shoes on the bed to get the perfect shot, something Kevin wishes he thought of, he told TODAY. 

When Regina and her dad reviewed the photos together, she had a big grin as she looked over her work. "I honestly don't have the words to describe how proud I am," said Kevin. "Whether she chooses to follow it as a career or not, I'm happy to support her in anything that makes her happy."
