This limited five-part series is based on an unsolved case—the 1986 murder of Sweden’s then Prime Minister Olof Palme. Olof was shot in the back as he walked down with his wife and children after watching a movie in one of the busiest streets of Stockholm. The Netflix’s synopsis describes, this five-part series is “a fictional interpretation of how Stig Engström managed to elude justice.” However, charges were never pressed against Stig while he was alive. However, in 2018 Thomas Pettersson, who investigated the case thirty years later, pinned the murder on Stig Engström in his book also named The Unlikely Murderer. The series is an adaptation of this book.
