Another Actor Almost Played Mr. Big on 'Sex and the City'

This is almost shocking as when we found out all those Cosmopolitans were fake. Earlier this week in an interview with Entertainment WeeklySex and the City creator, Darren Star, revealed that Chris Noth was not his first choice for the now iconic role of Mr. Big.

Originally, Star had been thinking of Alec Baldwin to play Carrie Bradshaw's enigmatic, on-again-off-again beau. And while we can sort of picture Baldwin as the smooth-talking New Yorker, he lacks the certain tall, dark, suaveness that Chris Noth brought to the character—and ultimately, Star couldn't imagine anyone else for the part.

"I was thinking of Alec Baldwin for Big initially [in Sex and the City]," Star told EW. "I don't really watch Law & Order, but I met with Chris Noth and thought he was perfect. I remember the first table read, how good he was. I'm not saying that Chris was Mr. Big, but he brought a lot of his own persona to the role."

What's even more shocking though, was Star's initial consideration to play Aidan Shaw.

"We initially were thinking about Aidan Quinn for Aidan, but I think he wasn't available," Star revealed. (Editor's note: This is Aidan Quinn in case you didn't know.) "I loved John Corbett in Northern Exposure, and we were like, 'Well, what's John Corbett been up to?' He just had the laconic, dudish vibe. But we kept 'Aidan' because we loved the name."

We cannot imagine anyone but John Corbett as the rugged, dog-loving, boyfriend of our dreams that is Aidan.
