10 Stunning Photo Ideas for Your Next Vacation

You're not going to go on a trip and not take pictures — what are you, a complete waster of opportunity? If you don't put your cocktail in a coconut on Instagram, did you even drink it?!

But before you subject your friends and followers to selfies all day, take a cue from the pros. These 'grammers post the kind of wanderlust-inducing pics that you tag your friends in. Take notes from these pros, but don't forget to enjoy your vacay without your phone or camera sometimes too.

1. Get creative with your cityscape.

Instead of the standard skyline, try using the reflection on your sunnies, adding a map, or finding a striking point of view.

2. Tiny people = big impact.

They'll look like mini figurines, but sizing down the people in your frame from a distant vantage point is a great way to show how massive or breathtaking your surroundings are.

3. Switch up your perspective.

Looking up — or down — can change the way you see things.

4. Add instant film.

This photo-in-a-photo idea is the fastest way to make your shot one-of-a-kind. Bring along your Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 70 (it's got a selfie mode and a selfie mirror, so it's perfect for groups and solo travel) and get creative. Juxtapose day and night scenes, or go black and white against color. Diehard iPhone photographers can do it, too: capture, edit and print pics straight from your smartphone with Fujifilm's INSTAX Share app and the wireless INSTAX Share Printer for the best kind of "wish you were here."

5. Look for a striking pop of color.

If it sounds simple, that's because it is! Sometimes all you need for a great image is a subject that catches your eye.

6. Take advantage of golden hour.

Depending where you are in the world, the best natural light to capture most subjects is in the golden hours — about an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset.

7. Capture silhouettes.

During sunset and shortly after, try capturing the stark silhouettes of your surroundings for a dramatic effect. You might be surprised how detailed you can get.

8. Show your stuff.

Because no matter how many pictures you take of them, your clothes, camera, and snacks will never complain.

9. Play with reflection.

Near a body of water? Incorporate the reflection for a gorgeous photo opp: Look for cloud formations overhead or colorful landscapes mirrored on the surface.

10. Get yourself in an epic shot.

Put yourself in front of the lens from time to time (even if you're still snapping away).
