20 Signs Your Dad is Actually Your BFF

1. He is basically the wisest person you know. Whether it's how to bleed a radiator or major career choices, he's the person whose advice you always trust.

2. And he's the first person you call when you get a good grade in school or land a great job.

3. Watching Mufasa die in The Lion King is too upsetting. You cannot watch it without welling up.

4. You get pissed at yourself for never knowing what to buy him for birthdays and Christmas. But he always smiles at the socks.

5. You pretty much judge every man you meet by whether he is a) as good a person as your dad and b) whether your dad would get on with him.

6. When you see your dad cry it does weird things to your insides and it feels a bit like the end of the world.

7. Wearing his bobbly old jumpers around the house when it's cold will never get old. Cosier than ANY pyjamas.

8. You take the piss out of every joke he ever makes, but secretly think he is pretty much the most hilarious person you know.

9. Chilling with your dad is the BEST because you don't have to make small talk with him and he doesn't ask irritating questions about your love life.

10. He also CBA to stalk you on social media like half of your other relatives. Which you are SO immensely grateful for.

11. When he serves up burnt lasagne for dinner, you know it tastes grim but it also tastes kinda delicious because you know how hard he's tried.

12. Even when he comments on the ridiculousness of your clothes and you roll your eyes, a small part of you kind of agrees. Not that you'd tell him that, obvs.

13. Any scene with Charlie in Twilight makes you want to run and give your dad a hug.

14. When you see pictures of your dad holding you as a baby, it is literally the greatest, cutest thing you will ever witness in your life.

15. You somehow get into the most random shows like Law & Order and start semi-supporting his football team, just because it makes you feel a bit closer to him.

16. Sometimes, even thinking about the speech your dad will give on your wedding day makes you want to cry.

17. And you kind of care more about the song you'll dance with him to than the first dance with your husband.

18. And don't even get us started on music. Your iPod is full of songs that would take an hour of explaining to your friends. "Well, this one time, me and my dad were in the car…"

19. No matter how crappy you feel, he knows exactly the right thing to say to make you smile. Even when you're in a total mood and you feel kind of annoyed at him for trying, you secretly love it.

20. Best of all, you know he will ALWAYS be there to protect you and look out for you.
