We Want What She’s Having

As Hugh Grant states in Love Actually, “Love actually is all around”—and it’s true! Who doesn’t love love, right? But there’s one union that’s added an extra spring in our step and captured our hearts—it’s a romance that has united people around the world. It’s the love story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Ever since the ridiculously attractive couple announced their engagement, we’ve been aflutter. Apart from the obvious fact that this is a real-life fairytale, there’s something special about Harry and Meghan that has us rooting for them. “Meghan is a little outside of the box; she’s not been bred or groomed for this role,” explains psychologist Madonna Hirning.

Meghan is unlike any other woman who has married into the royal family—she’s American, an actress, biracial, divorced, and 36 years old—talk about challenging the royal status quo. More importantly, she’s a staunch advocate for women’s rights, a humanitarian and a woman who has clearly fallen head-over-heels in love with a man who happens to be a prince. Behind-the- scenes footage of Meghan and Harry goofing around during their official interview went viral, and for good reason—they’re #CoupleGoals.

AS FOR PRINCE HARRY...
Well, we’ve long been on his team. “He seems to connect with people,” says Madonna. “He’s played the field for quite a long time and now that he’s finally chosen someone, it’s exciting and it shows how much he loves her.” When news first broke of their relationship, Meghan was subject to a tonne of abuse and Harry defended her. A letter released by Kensington Palace at
the time stated, “[Harry] knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game—it is her life and his.” Those naysayers have since quietened down, and Prince Harry and Meghan represent an exciting new chapter for the royals. It’s a reminder that fairytales do exist!
