French Teacher Claimed He was Stabbed by ISIS, but He was Actually Lying

A French preschool teacher claimed an ISIS supporter stabbed him with a box cutter while shouting that the attack was a "warning." Now the teacher is saying he lied about the incident.

According to the BBC, the 45-year-old teacher originally told authorities that a man stabbed him while he was alone in a classroom in the Paris suburb of Aubervilliers on Monday morning. The claimed that the attacker shouted: "This is for Daesh. It's a warning." Daesh is a term for ISIS or the Islamic State.

But the teacher — who was hospitalized for non-life threatening wounds to his side and neck —allegedly made it all up so he could be transferred to another job, according to the New York Times. It appears the teacher stabbed himself as part of the fake attack.

The incident set off a manhunt in the French suburb. It also came as the country remains on edge. One month ago, Paris experienced a rampage of violence when terrorists associated with ISIS carried out a series of coordinated attacks that killed 130 people and injured more than 350.

France's education minister has promised to increase security in the country's schools.
