7 Ways You Can Use Reflexology to Make You Feel Better Right Now

Chances are that you've probably heard about reflexology, even if you're not 100 per cent sure what it is. Yeah? Allow us to explain. Or rather, allow google, because this is the offish definition you get when you type 'What is reflexology' into that ol' search bar:

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

So there you have it - nifty, eh? And you don't have to set aside hours for a full on treatment to reap the reflexology benefits either. In fact, using the pressure points on your hands, you can help yourself feel better in just 10 mins.

Grab some hand cream* if you have some (it makes the massaging a bit easier, although isn't essential) and check out the diagrams below.

*We recommend Weleda Skin Food - it's super smooth, hella moisturising and smells AMAZING.

Got a scratchy throat? Soothe it by pinching the skin just to the side of your inner thumb and rolling the flesh between your fingers in a regular motion.

The soft fleshy part of your thumb - often referred to as the thumb 'pad' links to your head, so concentrate your massage on this area on both hands if you've got a headache.

As a lot of headaches also stem from your neck, you should also really rub the uppermost knuckle on both thumbs - this join corresponds with your neck.

If you're feeling anxious or can't stop those thoughts racing around your mind, you need to give the tips of your 8 fingers a really good massage. These link up with your brain, so rub in calm, slow, circles and feel yourself relax.

Stomach feeling a bit dodgy? Constipated? Get working those hands, gurrrrrl. Your stomach pressure points are that webby fleshy bit between your thumb and pointy finger, and your intestines link up to the middle part of your palm just above your wrist.

If you suffer from period cramps then you need to get to those areas that correspond to your ovaries and uterus. For ya ovaries massage the outer spot of your palm just above your wrist, and to soothe that uterus do the same at the very bottom of your palm directly under your thumb.

Get rubbing and working all of the knots out of that thumb joints we spoke about earlier in the 'headache' section, along with the pads just under your little fingers, which connects to your arm and shoulders.

Cystitis is HORRRIBLE so if you're suffering from that burning pain then we feel for ya, boo. Chug back the cranberry juice (it helps, honest) and massage the point that connects to your bladder - the mid-point between the base of your thumb and your wrist.

FEEL BETTER, GUYS.
