When Hollie Gazzard died after being stabbed 14 times by her ex-boyfriend Asher Maslin in February 2014, Facebook froze her profile in memorial, allowing no changes to be made to it, as is their policy. But Facebook photos of her with her killer still remain visible to those who were friends with her before she died, serving as a grisly reminder of the person who killed her, BBC reports

Gazzard's father Nick says he feels "sick" when and other family members look at her Facebook photos and are forced to see nine photos of Gazzard with her killer.

A Facebook spokesperson told the family, "We memorialise accounts to provide a place of remembrance and maintain the profile as it was when the person passed away. We understand in tragic cases such as this it may mean there are sometimes painful reminders but memorialised accounts are designed to preserve the privacy of the deceased."

After hearing that Facebook wouldn't budge on their policy, the Gazzard family started a Change.org petition to remove the photos of her killer from her page. The page currently has over 10,000 signatures from all over the world from people who believe Gazzard's family should get to decide how she is remembered, and not Facebook.

Maslin previously received a life sentence with a minimum term of 24 years and was denied an appeal on his sentence length.
