With summer on the horizon, we’ve found our new favourite makeup trend: the toasted makeup look for the perfect sun-kissed glow. Think earthy browns, soft caramel tones, and a natural sun-kissed glow that adds warmth and definition to your features. Unlike sharp contouring or bright rosy blushes, toasted makeup focuses on seamless blending, enhancing your cheekbones and jawline for a naturally lifted effect.

Perfecting your base

The best way to tap into this trend is to first ace your base. A glowy, radiant foundation—courtesy of well-prepped, moisturised skin—is the holy grail of this makeup look. Opt for a lightweight, natural-finish foundation after concealing and colour correcting to let your skin peek through. Make sure to blend your base seamlessly before moving on to the next step.  

A luminous, well-lit base is key to acing the toasted makeup trend. Before moving on to blonzing (blush + bronzing), apply a generous amount of strobe cream or a dash of liquid highlighter across your cheeks, blending it upwards to your temples for a sculpted, snatched look.  

Finding the right blush 

You may think picking up your favourite bronzer and blending it in is the ultimate hack to achieving the perfect toasted makeup look, but there’s one crucial step you can’t miss—pairing the right blush with your bronzer. Complementary shades create a soft, airbrushed effect. Hues like cinnamon and terracotta pair well with deep peach and hazel-toned corals. Alternatively, you can opt for a brownish blush and skip bronzer altogether for an effortless blend and smooth finish.

For the eyes, start with a soft brown or caramel shade as a base, then layer gold or shimmery hues to build dimension. If you prefer a more muted effect, smudge a brown kohl liner along your lash lines.
