Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput tied the knot on 8th July, 2015 in an intimate, low-key Delhi wedding. Initially, the couple had planned a destination wedding to escape the paparazzi and media glare, however, they finally decided to get married in Mira's hometown itself.
The festivities began with an intimate haldi and chooda ceremony, followed by the mehendi and sangeet night. Mira Rajput was caught wearing a simple yet elegant yellow kurta with pristine white palazzo pants for the occasion. She completed this look with flower jewellery and a 'no-makeup' makeup look.
For the mehendi ceremony, Mira opted for a yellow lehenga with a pale pink blouse by designer Anita Dongre. A light-weight, easy-to-carry ensemble, it was the gota patti work on the blouse and lehenga that made it all the more beautiful. She went on to accessorise this look with a pearl maang tikka, earrings, and a necklace.
The gorgeous couple recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary! Mira took to Instagram to post this adorable photograph from their sangeet ceremony and wrote, "5 years, 4 souls, 3 homes, 2 babies and 1 beautiful family. There’s nobody I’d rather be on this journey called life than you my love. I fall in love with you more every day. And I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have the love of my life be my best friend. Thank you for everything, for being my strength and for walking through everything together, hand in hand. I love you."
The dashing groom-to-be, Shahid Kapoor complemented Mira in a red kurta with a maroon Nehru jacket.
For the big day, Mira opted for a blush pink Anamika Khanna bridal lehenga. Bidding adieu to the traditional reds, Mira certainly made a statement in this pretty-pink ensemble. She accessorised her bridal look with a multi-coloured gemstone necklace, a maang tikka, pearl earrings, and a traditional passa. On the other hand, hubby Shahid Kapoor wore an off-white sherwani with a maroon turban. Besides, how stunning are the yellow rose varmalas?!
Besides the Hindu wedding rituals, the couple also had an Anand Karaj ceremony, following their Punjabi Sikh customs. For the occasion Mira wore a stunning pastel pink and green kurta with a heavily embroidered dupatta, paired with a micro bindi and a maang tikka. Shahid wore a simple white kurta pyjama with a saffron turban.
On July 12, 2015, the couple hosted a grand reception in Mumbai for the film fraternity. While Shahid was spotted in a Kunal Rawal suit, Mira stunned in a white and blue embellished Manish Malhotra floral creation.
The beautiful bride went on to accessorise this glamorous ensemble with diamond earrings and a chunky diamond bracelet.
On their first wedding anniversary, Shahid took to Instagram to share this adorable photograph.
