We are all aware that Sonakshi was over-weight before she entered B-town. However, despite her dramatic weight loss, she was still scrutinized for being 'fat'. She slammed her critics with this tweet, "To all those who keep commenting on my weight, whether it's a full picture, or a close up where you can't see jack, take a good look at this picture...Now get this: 1) This ain't ever gonna be me. 2) Get over it. 3) I wish you could see which finger I hold up for shallow and idiotic people like yourself.''
This gorgeous Bollywood diva was put under attack for not having lost her postpartum weight. She replied saying, "It isn't surprising because in this industry it comes as standard when an actress becomes a mother the focus isn't on her health, it's how fast she lost her weight, and I don't worry about this. To me, the well-being and the health of my family is more important than focusing on going back to my pre-pregnancy body in miracle time."
On a popular chat show Sonam revealed how she got shamed for being too fat, too thin, too dark or too tall, at different points of time in her career. However, despite all the shaming the actor realises that everything in the glamour industry needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Flaunting her curvy body, Huma has always been at the receiving end of a lot of body shaming. But, only until the day she spoke out on the cover of a magazine saying, "I don't owe you perfection! My body, my rules."
She even had to undergo a butt X-ray to prove to the world that her backside was real! While the Kardashians have always been the focus of the media, it wasn't until Kim's first pregnancy that she had to deal with unnecessary body shaming for gaining baby weight. Post her delivery, she gave everyone a piece of her mind via Twitter saying, "Anyone who has had a baby knows how your body totally changes! Making fun of me pregnant and making fun of me trying to loose weight now, shame on you. I'm not perfect but I will never conform to your skinny standards. Sorry! Don't give young girls a complex."
After coming out about her eating disorder, you'd expect people to be empathetic. But...not really. Demi still underwent criticism for her weight. She went on to say, "Guess what, I'm healthy and happy, and if you're hating on my weight, you obviously aren't."
Emma Stone was shamed for being 'too thin'. In an interview with USA Today she said, "I've seen a lot of comments that say, 'Eat a sandwich' or 'She looks sick.' I've been looking at myself in the mirror being mean to myself. I'm not sick. I eat sandwiches. I've shamed myself for it. We shame each other online. We're always too skinny or too fat or too tall or too short. It bothers me because I care so much about young girls."
Over the years, actor Vidya Balan has been made to feel embarrassed about the changes her body has undergone. However, despite the hate and body shaming, she embraces her body. "I love to work out but I am not trying to defy my body structure anymore. I can’t change my body type. But I can change the way I feel about my body. And most days I feel absolutely sexy… of course, if I am not having a bad hair day!" she says.
Having been over-weight before she entered the film fraternity, Parineeti went under a body transformation. However, despite her efforts and significant weight loss, she was attacked for being fat. In an interview when she was asked what she wanted to say to her body shamers, she responded, 'wait and watch'. Soon enough, Parineeti underwent a major transformation again, leaving her haters absolutely speechless.
As soon as she made her debut with the movie 'Student of the Year', Tara found herself at the receiving end of criticism for being way 'too thin'. In an interview she said, “People do say hurtful things every now and then. Some people called me anorexic when I did SOTY 2. A little while later, I put on two-three kilos and they were like she’s put on weight. That’s something I have come to terms with. It used to bother me a lot in the beginning.”
Ileana D’Cruz has gone on record to talk about suffering from body dysmorphic disorder, which led to depression. When she was attacked for having an 'awkward body type' on social media, she fought back saying, "Firstly, I don’t have an ‘awkward’ body type. Nobody does. Secondly, yes, I have been criticised for my body type. But I am trying to learn to love myself for who I am and not try to conform to someone else’s ideals.”
Despite looking stunning at the Emmys in 2018, just four months after giving birth to her son, Chrissy found herself dealing with body shamers. "I’m asking this with the utmost [respect], but is @chrissyteigen pregnant again?" wrote a twitter user. Chrissy retweeted saying, "I just had a baby but thank you for being soooo respectful."
When bombarded with 'concerns' about her significant weight loss and health, Celine Dion fought responded saying, "If I like it, I don't want to talk about it. Don't bother. Don't take a picture" she said to a media outlet. "If you like it, I'll be there. If you don't, leave me alone."
When trolled over her apparent weight-gain, Selena shared a pic of herself looking gorgeous in a swimsuit, and added the caption: "I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove".
Finding herself on the receiving end of hate for her body during live performances, Lady Gaga shut everybody up by sharing the following post on Instagram- "I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too," Gaga wrote. "No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. "Be you, and be relentlessly you.
