These Celebrities Own Private Islands Across the Globe!

The Colombian singer reportedly purchased Bonds Cay in the Bahamas' norther Berry District for a whopping $16 million. The 700-acre island boasts white sand beaches and three salt pond lakes. While Shakira certainly doesn't live on the island, she apparently plans to rent it or build a hotel property.

According to L.A. Times, Mel Gibson bought the island of Mago from a Japanese corporation for $15 million, shortly after the release of his film 'Passion of the Christ' in 2004. "Mago rises majestically to 670 feet on its eastern cliffs and is fringed entirely by protective reefs, powder-white beaches, and turquoise lagoons," read the sale's original offering. The island of Mago also happens to be one of the world's largest private islands, spanning across 5,400 acres.

According to Architectural Digest, George Clooney and his wife Amal have reportedly purchased a private island on river Thames for 10 million GBP.

The 'Titanic' star reportedly bought the 104-acre Blackadore Caye island off the Belize coast in 2005 with plans to create a "wellness-focused, luxury eco-resort." Post construction delays, developers received the go-ahead to work on plans that called for 36 resort bungalows and estate villas. Moreover, the actor plans to install a solar-powered airstrip on the nearly $2 million island, for visitors.

The British adventurer, writer, television presenter and businessman reportedly paid 95,000 GBP for St. Tudwal West island off Wales' Llyn Peninsula in 2001. The 30-acre land is also home to an abundance of wildlife including grey seals, otters, and dolphins.

The 'Dr. Doolittle' actor bought the 15-acre Rooster (or Long) Cay for a whopping $15 million in 2007, according to Forbes. He previously owned another smaller island near Nassau, called Pearl Cay.

The power couple reportedly own not one, but two private islands. In 2010, Jay Z purchased an island for Beyoncé's 29th birthday, in the Florida Keys for $20 million. Apart from that, the couple has also bought a 360-acre island in the Bahamas for $3 million.
