The Colombian singer reportedly purchased Bonds Cay in the Bahamas' norther Berry District for a whopping $16 million. The 700-acre island boasts white sand beaches and three salt pond lakes. While Shakira certainly doesn't live on the island, she apparently plans to rent it or build a hotel property.
According to L.A. Times, Mel Gibson bought the island of Mago from a Japanese corporation for $15 million, shortly after the release of his film 'Passion of the Christ' in 2004. "Mago rises majestically to 670 feet on its eastern cliffs and is fringed entirely by protective reefs, powder-white beaches, and turquoise lagoons," read the sale's original offering. The island of Mago also happens to be one of the world's largest private islands, spanning across 5,400 acres.

Moreover, the actor plans to install a solar-powered airstrip on the nearly $2 million island, for visitors.
