Your W.i.S.H. come true

Talking to W.i.S.H. makes you want to be in on their jokes—characteristic of a good pop band, some would argue. It’s like standing at the edge of a very cool party *insert the meme here*, one you know for sure you will enjoy, if only you could gather the courage to walk in.

W.i.S.H., short for ‘World Inka Stage Hai’ (The world is their stage) comprises Zo (Zoe Siddharth), Suchi (Suchita Shirke), and sisters Ri (Riya Duggal) and Sim (Sim Duggal). The quartet—brought together in 2024 by New Zealand-born, Mumbai-based music producer Mikey McCleary—is the first Indian pop (I-pop) girl band since Viva from the early 2000s.

In case you have any misgivings about I-pop bands, here are some facts: The band’s first single 'Lazeez', from their debut album Sweetburn (2025) has garnered 8 million views (and counting) on YouTube. They have already shared the stage with singer Sunidhi Chauhan at last year’s YouTube Fanfest in Mumbai, they have a loyal fanbase in non metro cities like Patna and Lucknow, they performed their version of 'Desi Girl' on reality television show Indian Idol, and have signed a deal with beauty brand, Maybelline New York (“We get free makeup all the time now, it’s amazing,” Sim gushes).

What’s of utmost importance to the group though, is sisterhood. It means being there for each other more than anything, and taking risks together—they know they will survive as long as they are together.

What’s the band dynamic like off-stage? Super chill, chaotic at times. Always chatting and sharing stories and memories with each other. P.S.- Always laughing and pulling legs.
Biggest pinch-me moment for the group: We always looked up to Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, and as a group we had a chance to sing live with Sunidhi Ma’am and also sing in front of Shreya Ma’am on Indian Idol!!
