Is the air pollution index bothering you? Or are you looking to ramp up your home decor without going the whole mile? Well, the answer to both the queries is bringing plants into the mix! Minimalistic succulent or oxygen-infusing snake plants, there are many ways you can add a touch of green to your home. "Plants, especially conveniently-sized succulents, can fit in with your existing decor arrangements easily, no matter how big or small a space. As such, the unique colours, shapes, silhouettes and natural inflorescence of plants speak for themselves," says Sarita Handa, luxury décor connoisseur and founder of her namesake label. Here are her tips to add plants to your home decor:
Create a floating garden: You can use pots of varying sizes, ropes, racks and hooks to create a hanging garden or just put up a set of hanging planters in your room. You can even repurpose empty glass or tin containers you no longer need as pots for a kitschy vibe. Plants requiring minimal sun exposure and watering such as succulent, money plants and Plumeria are great options for this.
Plants as wall art: You can retouch a bare wall or replace a wall painting by using potted plants as wall art. Succulents, cactus and other such plants are becoming increasingly popular as ‘living wall art.’ All you need is a suitable wall sconce, or hanging shelves to place vibrant pots of these plants to get the look.
Table centerpieces: For minimalism-lovers, using indoor floral fauna such as peace lillies, azaleas or even floating succulents as table centerpieces is a quick way to redecorate. You can also use clear round bowls as pots accessorised with pebbles for a fuss-free yet beautiful coffee table accessory.
Mix it up with boquets: Another way to liven up home decor the natural way is to juxtapose your indoor potted plants with fresh flowers, fruit slices, raw crystal pieces, candles or fresh grass. These can be used anywhere and are wonderful for occasion decor.
A plant for every room: You don't have to skip the bathroom in your plantifying process. You can opt for plants such as peace lillies, ferns, spider plants that thrive in a humid, low-ligh bathroom environ. Succulents can also enliven a bathroom painted in white or earthy colours, especially if such a bathroom receives abundant sunlight.
