Leonardo DiCaprio Just Spoke Out About the Chennai Water Crisis

The actor shared this haunting picture on Instagram voicing his concern.

Leonardo DiCaprio cares a LOT about the environment. He has donated a million dollars to the Save the Tigers campaign, founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation dedicated to the long-term health and wellbeing of all Earth’s inhabitants, and produced the 2106 documentary on climate change Before the Flood.

 

The actor and environmentalist’s Instagram feed is full of posts like these, alerting the people of the world to the dangers of climate change and other important environmental issues.

 

 

Recently, Leonardo put up this Instagram post lamenting about Chennai’s water crisis.

 

 

“Only rain can save Chennai from this situation. A well completely empty, a city without water,” wrote Leonardo, before going on to talk about the city's acute water shortage in detail. He also shared a link to the BBC news article about the situation. This is not the first time Leo has shared a post related to India’s environmental issues. He also shared this video of the Ghazipur trash mountains in Delhi, which are soon to become higher than the Taj Mahal!

 

Chennai has been battling an acute water-crisis for many weeks now, and several of it’s water reservoirs have recently gone bone-dry. Leonardo's concerns are not unfounded, and many environmental organisations, NGOs and government bodies are working hard to bring some relief to the city's residents and find a solution to this alarming situation
