Bulgarian weddings sound like a hoot - there's a special bread (we love bread), lots of games and merry-making, and dancing and kissing for the happy couple. What more do you want?

Balinese weddings are a stunning visual feast. From the incredible flowers to the intricate headdresses and makeup, Balinese ceremonies are truly special. The ceremonial rites come from Hinduism.

India's a vast country with a wealth of different traditions when it comes to weddings. This photo, taken from a Hindu ceremony shows a bride and groom in red-tone clothes, with some neck garlands and tonnes of detailed embroidery.

Lots of islands make up Indonesia, so traditions vary from place to place, but bright colours and a lot of bling is a must.

This couple have plumped for a traditional 'Shinto' ceremony, which is part of old Japanese customs. The white headdress is called a tsunokakushi. Shinto weddings are themed around purity, and involves ceremonial drinking of sake, but their popularity is on the decline.

Bridal attire in South Korea includes a jacket called a 'jeogori' and a high-waisted, wrap-around skirt. The headpiece is optional - but it's pretty cool.

Fusing elements of folk culture with Orthodox Christian beliefs, Ukrainian weddings are rich in colour and tradition. There's lots of ceremonial blessing as part of the service - and fun fact - the bride will be 'kidnapped' by her family and has to pay a 'ransom' to get her back.
