How do you choose the correct highlighter for your skin tone?
While using a highlighter, the first, most important step is to choose the correct highlighter for your skin. Here's a simple way in which you can figure out the right tone for you. If you find that gold jewellery flatters your complexion, then you should opt for a highlighter that has a warm, bronze, or of a gold tonality. If silver or platinum jewellery works best for you, then you should choose a highlighter that has pale pink tones or flecks of silver in it.

What's a common mistake that people make while using a highlighter?
Everybody wants to achieve that 'lit-from-within' look, but if in the process you go overboard and apply highlighter to your entire face, this can make your skin look oily and sweaty instead of glowy. So, it’s important to use a highlighter in the right places.
Now that we have our perfect shade and our brush sorted, what is the right way to highlight your skin?
1. if you want an instant brow lift, then you can dab a little highlighter right under the arch of your eyebrows.
2. If you want the appearance of a slimmer nose, you can swipe down some highlighter on the centre of the bridge, but avoid the tip of your nose.
3. If you want to make your lips look poutier, you can apply a little highlighter on the bow of your tips.
4. To make your cheekbones look sculped and high, apply a highlighter on the top, just of to the side of your under-eye area. You must be very careful to avoid the actual under-eye area. If the highlighter goes into the under-eye area, fine lines may get accentuated.
5. If you want to open up your eyes, you can make them look bigger by applying highlighter around the tear duct area. Again, use an eyeshadow brush as it gives you a more controlled application. You can also apply highlighter on the centre of your eyelid, as this further helps in opening up the eye.
