Rajkumar Rao’s acting acumen has been widely applauded and awarded. A versatile actor, his oeuvre includes diverse roles, each starkly different from the other. He brings in the same penchant for experimentation and minute attention to details in his personal space too. Rajkumar Rao’s plush Mumbai home that he shares with his partner actor Patralekha and his pup Gaga, is a reflection of the actor’s persona.

A staid white door leads to a split level house connected with a wooden spiral staircase. The upper floor done up in eclectic bright blue and pale earthy grey is where the actor entertains his guests, holds meetings and parties. The cozy living space with blue walls and interesting art work also features ivory sofas smattered with bright, floral cushions. The actor, who has been featured in the Season 4 of Asian Paints Home Where the Heart Is, reveals on the show that it took two years to put the space together and each decor piece has been thoughtfully handpicked.

While speaking about how he loves to experiment, he mentions how he brought in different textures and colours to his space through the leather sofas and wicker furniture with floral upholstery.

The bedroom with interesting wall paper and fuss-free furniture is an oasis of calm and that’s how Rajkumar likes it. “I don’t like anything jazzy or shiny,” he says.

The upper floor opens into a balcony where a Buddha statue that he picked from a trip to Koh Samui enjoys the pride of place, surrounded by planters.

The lower floor is more of a private space, where Rajkumar likes to play with his pup, watch movies or read books and scripts. The classy and quirky space features interesting wall art, a swing, a white couch and shelf housing his favourite books.

Different spaces in the house also have different quotes stylishly splashed across the wall like “You Are Exactly Where You Need to Be” and “Don’t Forget How It Started”, these reminders keep him grounded and motivate him to work harder, reveals the actor.

Idols of gods and goddesses are placed in different nooks and corners and Rajkumar says they bring in a lot of good vibes and positive energy. The lavish space that reeks of the owner’s taste and aesthetics makes for an elegant and beautiful sight.
