Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa Are Engaged After 5 Years Together

After five years together and a beautiful daughter, Rani Rose, Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa will be tying the knot. The couple began dating in 2016 and welcomed their first child in 2018. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actor took to Instagram to announce the big news with a photograph of them kissing, and of course, the engagement ring. Hudson captioned her post saying, "Let’s go! ?‍♀️?".

The two first met through Hudson's friends Sara and Erin Foster, who are Fujikawa's stepsisters. In December 2017, while on The Talk, the actor revealed, "We've known each other for 15 years; he's my best friend's stepbrother. We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, 'Oh, you're like that?"

In 2018, the two welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose—naming her after Fujikawa's late father. "We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her (paternal) grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honour," Hudson revealed in her baby announcement post. She also has two sons, Ryder Robinson and Bingham Hawn Bellamy, from her previous relationships with Black Crows singer Chris Robinson and Matthew Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse.

Just hours after her engagement announcement, the actor graced the Met Gala 2021 red carpet, sporting a head-to-toe Michael Kors ensemble.

While most of us are well-acquainted with the Bride Wars actor, here's what's to know about her fiancée Danny Fujikawa: 

 

1. He's a musician

A former singer and guitarist for the L.A-based band Chief, Fujikawa's group released their debut album, Modern Rituals, in 2010. In fact, he also launched a record label called Lightwave Records in 2013, with The Delta Mirror frontman Chris Acosta, "to release their music on their own terms."

 

2. He's Related to the Fosters

Danny's late father Ron Fujikawa was in a 10-year relationship with Rebeca Dyer before his death in October 2012. Dyer was previously married to Canadian musician and composer David Foster. The exes share daughters Jordan Foster, Erin Foster and Sara Foster, whom Danny considers his stepsisters even though his father was never technically married to their mother.

 

3. The Man Has a Sense of Humour

Fujikawa's Instagram handle @swimswammyslippyslappy is proof of the same. 

 

Besides this, Hudson's fiancée is a New York University graduate and also lent his voice for a phone call scene in the 2017 dramatic-comedy film Scumbag.
