Welcome to the world, baby Chopra-Jonas! Late Friday night, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas announced the arrival of their first child via surrogacy. "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family," the new parents posted on their respective Instagram handles.

The good news comes exactly two months after the actor decided to drop the last name 'Jonas' from her Instagram profile, sparking breakup rumours. A month earlier, the star cleared the air by responding to the speculations during an interview. "I don’t know. I wanted the username to match my Twitter, I guess. I just find it really amusing that everything becomes such a huge deal to people. It’s social media, guys. Just chill out," she revealed.

Back in 2018, on 1st December, the interracial couple tied the knot in two gorgeous ceremonies, a Hindu and a Christian one—each a nod to their cultural roots—at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The 5-day affair, attended by approximately 225 guests, became the talk-of-the-town, touted as one of the *biggest* celebrity weddings of all time.

In January 2021, Priyanka told The Sunday Times that she wished for a large family. "I do want children, as many as I can have. (Enough for) a cricket team? I’m not so sure," she admitted. Reportedly, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that "friends are excited" for the new parents, who hope to have "at least two children" someday. Nick and Priyanka's child is the fourth addition to the young Jonas clan, joining Kevin-Danielle and Joe-Sophie's children, Willa Jonas, Alena Jonas, and Valentina Jonas.

While the pair haven't revealed the gender of their baby as yet, Us Weekly confirmed that they have been blessed with a beautiful girl. In addition, a source close to the couple told Daily Mail that the baby arrived at 27 weeks—12 weeks early—at a Southern California hospital outside LA, where she'll remain until she is healthy enough to return home with her parents.

Reportedly, the couple has been looking to grow their family for a while now, but their schedules had gotten in the way of their family planning. They eventually contacted an agency to explore their options. "Priyanka doesn't have any fertility issues preventing her from having a baby, but she is 39 now so it's not getting any easier...This is the woman's fifth surrogacy. They met her and really liked her," the source revealed. "The baby had been due in April, but the surrogate ended up giving birth on Sunday, so she was very premature," the insider added.

Neither Priyanka Chopra nor Nick Jonas has officially confirmed any details about their child, the reason behind opting for surrogacy, or the process.
