6 Men Teach Us How to Lounge in Style

Cosmo Man gives you an insight into the lives and sartorial choices of men who are using this downtime productively and making each moment count...in their most-comfortable, at-home outfits.

1. Kunal Rawal,
“This has been an interesting experience for me, and I have had some super-fun, creative days— going about old-school R&D, chasing design musings, rewiring my thoughts, and developing a bird’s-eye view. The new normal, work-from-home scenario has been challenging, and I miss the outdoors, but I have made peace with it. Drop crotch tracks, boxers, PJs, ganjis, tees, flip-flops are my current lounging favourites. My personal style is easy yet eclectic and individualistic. I have been enjoying dressing up occasionally, too, with a mix of a shirt or a jacket with shorts/pyjamas for a twist. A believer in silver linings, I feel India’s future is bright. As a country, we are capable of so much and can cater beautifully to all aspects of design and fashion. Consumption will become more mindful, a lot more thought will be put into design and versatility, of every garment bought and sold. Nobody has all the answers, so there will be a whole bunch of waiting and watching, and trial and error.” “As a country, we are capable of so much and can cater beautifully to all aspects of design and fashion.”

2. Usaamah Siddique,
“I am all for a comfy pair of track pants and oversized, cotton T-shirts. I also love lounging around in oversized hoodies and sweatshirts. This lockdown has been a good change for me, as I have been focusing on myself, spending time with my family, and learning how to meditate. Working from home has been great, and it has made me realise that this is something I can permanently adopt in the future, too. My personal style can be best described as classic, but every once in a while, I like to shake things up with something loud and blingy, and make a statement. It is usually in the form of an accessory, like a watch or a chain. I hope the Indian fashion industry is able to overcome the current challenges and comes back stronger after this pandemic. Our local brands should be supported more, and the fashion community on the whole should work towards minimising its negative impact on the environment.” “Working from home has been great, and it has made me realise that this is something I can permanently adopt in the future, too.”

3. Sahil Marwaha, Partner and Co-Founder, Beam &
“I have easily adapted my work and lifestyle to the current situation, and have got used to things I would have previously thought impossible. Feeling good, I have been navigating through each day by learning more about food and wellness, as well as following my workout regimen regularly. My personal style has always been very relaxed and laid back. Comfort has been crucial, and a pair of new kicks is welcome any day. I have been chilling at home in shorts and loose vests, indulging in a relaxed, beachy vibe. I like a lot of whites, greys, and blues. My wardrobe mostly consists of casuals, but there is a fair amount of formalwear, too. Sneakers are my go-to on most days, as I find the comfort they provide to be unparalleled. I think that fashion houses and brands would certainly need to pivot a little and rearrange their priorities, just like all of us currently, to be able to thrive in the future, too.” “I have been chilling at home in shorts and loose vests, indulging in a relaxed, beachy vibe.”

4. Aneev Rao,
“I am, ordinarily, a homebody, but this lockdown has been long even by my
own standards! My personal style is quite easy-going, and all about comfort. I usually wear whatever I lay my hands on in the wardrobe. I have been biased towards comfy tees, shorts, and sweatpants during this lockdown, as they give me the freedom to move around unrestricted, as I carry out household chores like cleaning and cooking (a lot of cooking!). I have been maintaining a positive outlook throughout, and trying to make each day enjoyable, finding motivation with my assorted, patterned pyjamas as well. I like wearing different shades of blue, as they have a soothing effect, especially during the summer. I hope we all come out of this lockdown with a renewed sense of empathy and respect for the natural world. I would love to see a rise in homegrown brands that comply with fair-trade regulations and are more sustainable in their work ethic.” “I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A RISE IN HOMEGROWN BRANDS THAT COMPLY WITH FAIR-TRADE REGULATIONS, AND ARE SUSTAINABLE.”

5. Anuj Bhutani,
“This pandemic has been an eye-opener, and a period of self-reflection. While it has been a time to pause and take stock of our realities, it has also made us aware of our privileges. I have been focusing on following a consistent routine, and keeping it simple in comfortable cotton T-shirts, robes, and PJs. I prefer minimalistic looks, with natural fabrics that offer durability and are skin-friendly. I love the affability of Indian attire, like a simple kurta set, which has timeless appeal. I usually opt for easy separates, that can be mixed and matched effortlessly, in earthy tones, neutrals, and pastels. Even though the Indian fashion industry has been experiencing several hardships currently, I hope to see it bounce back soon, and redeem itself by adopting a sustainable outlook and better planning for its artisans.” “I usually opt for easy separates that can be mixed and matched effortlessly, in earthy tones, neutrals, and pastels.”

6. Anant Kataria, Architect, Designer, and Restaurateur
“I have been using this opportunity to explore new hobbies and business ventures, and reconnect with myself. I have joined my wife Saara, who has a green thumb and is an expert at gardening, in her latest project of growing our own produce. We have, so far, successfully grown 20 kinds of fruits and vegetables, and I am trying my hand at cooking with them, too. We moved into our new home just before the lockdown, so our evenings are spent brainstorming on how we can best design and utilise our new space. I generally prefer to dress in smart-casuals, and my wardrobe is full of bright, colourful shirts. These days, I have been lounging around in T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops, with the occasional pair of linen trousers or jeans thrown in. As we step into the future, I feel strongly about maintaining the core value system of my brands and restaurants, with a top priority being to shop local.” “I HAVE JOINED MY WIFE SAARA, who has a green thumb, in growing our own produce. SO FAR, WE HAVE GROWN 20 KINDS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES!”
