10 International Celebrities Who Are Extending Their Support to India During COVID-19

While the Indian film industry is lending a helping hand amidst the deadly second wave of SARS-CoV-2—from celebrities pledging to contribute to the PM Cares Fund to donating medical supplies to those in dire need—a few members of tinseltown have also extended their support during these trying times. 

Hollywood celebrities including Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon and Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Aniston, along with famous musicians such as Camila Cabello, Katy Perry, Nick Jonas and Shawn Mendes, have raised their voice in support for India, amongst many others. Urging their fans to spread awareness about the grave situation in the nation and pleading them to donate to the cause, Hollywood personalities have gone the extra mile to show their support to our country.

Shawn Mendes took to Instagram to make his fans aware about the worrying situation in India, and asked them to consider donating to the GiveIndia foundation, which is extending covid-related help across the country.

Cuban-American singer, Camila Cabello also jumped on the bandwagon and urged her fans to donate to the GiveIndia foundation, whose non-profit sponsor, Indiaspora, promises to double every dollar donated.

American actress, producer and director, Mindy Kaling took to social media to spread awareness about the bleak situation in India, and requested her fans to donate to NGOs such as GiveIndia, Khalsa Aid, Hemkunt Foundation, and Feeding From Far, to help the nation fight against the second wave of the ongoing pandemic.

American singer, Katy Perry also joined the efforts to raise awareness and donations for India's fight against COVID-19. She specifically requested her followers to consider donating money for oxygen concentrators, amidst the severe oxygen supply shortage several states of the country are facing.

Ellen DeGeneres—American comedian and popular talk show host—also extended her support to India. Like Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, she urged fans to donate to the charitable foundation, GiveIndia.

Veteran Hollywood actor, Jennifer Aniston also extended her support for India, requesting her followers to donate to Americares—an organisation that is donating PPE kits, ventilators, and other essential medical supplies to India. 

 

8) Reese Witherspoon, Actor

 

Actor Reese Witherspoon amplified Priyanka Chopra Jonas' call to raise funds for India. "What is happening in India is an urgent situation," Reese wrote, sharing Priyanka's video appeal on her Instagram stories.

 

9) Hugh Jackman, Actor

 

The actor urged his fans to help India, taking to Instagram to share the GiveIndia fundraiser link. "Support India," he wrote, tagging Priyanka Chopra Jonas and GiveIndia in his story. He also shared a poster that read, "India needs our help. Together we can stop the spread. Let's do our bit and donate to help curb the biggest global outbreak."

Scottish actor, James Mcavoy requested his followers to donate to the Daivik Foundation, a non-profit fighting the coronavirus pandemic in India.
