Be it Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, or Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, we’re big fans of female friendships among celebrities—we love seeing them hype each other up! And probably one of the most famous friend duos of all is Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. Both have had their fair share of making the headlines and staying in the spotlight, be it because of their careers or personal lives. But no matter what, they have been pillars of support for each other, and are not afraid to publicly show their love for each other—as they showed at the MTV VMAs.

One would think that the two became friends because they’re in the same industry, but they met because both dated the Jonas brothers in 2008 (Gomez was with Nick while Swift was with Joe). Since then, their bond has only grown—they’ve performed together, danced at award shows, and most recently, hyped each other for winning awards! If this is not peak best friend behaviour, we don’t know what is!

Their friendship is so strong that at the MTV VMAs, the fact they weren’t seated together didn’t stop them from showing up for each other in the cutest ways possible.

When Gomez and Rema won for Best Afrobeats Video for their hit collab ‘Calm Down’, Swift didn’t shy from enthusiastically cheering for her. Earlier, Gomez was filmed standing during Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Pop Video, which was her first win of the night, proving that both of them turn up for each other.

Apart from this, cameras also caught them talking and hugging during the ceremony, and we can’t stop going ‘awww’ over the adorable moments! Later that night, Gomez took to her Instagram stories to post a funny picture of her and Swift, captioning it “She looks stunning I look constipated”, along with a cheeky “typical” written below it. If you don’t indulge in a bit of self-deprecation to hype up your bestie, are you even her friend?
