What your sleep position says about your personality

A lot of the time, whether it’s through the outfits we pick or the lipstick shade we choose, we shape at least part of our own perception that we want to show the world. However, there are a few things beyond our control that reflect our personalities. Our sleep position, for instance.

Do you sleep on your stomach with your hands curled underneath you or do you sleep holding onto a pillow? Scroll down to see what your sleep position says about you.

The skydiver

skydiver

This position is where you sleep on your stomach with your head to the side and hands tucked under the pillow or under your torso. As the name suggests, people who sleep in this position tend to be adventurous and easygoing. They are risk-takers and have a playful and goofy side to them. They also don’t take criticism too well, and need to be in control of every situation.

The starfish

sleep

Much like the sea creature, people who sleep in the starfish position sprawl across the bed. They sleep on their back with their arms stretched out above their heads. While they tend to be bed- and blanket-hoggers while they are asleep, in life they are supportive, selfless and trustworthy. These people are comfortable in their own skin, carefree, and always willing to lend a helping hand. However, thanks to their sleep position, they are also the ones constantly complaining of back and neck aches.

Foetus

Fun fact: Research conducted by On Health shows that approximately 41 per cent people sleep in the foetal position—when you sleep on your side with your legs bent and curled up towards your torso, mirroring a baby in the womb. People who sleep in this position are generally sensitive and shy and tend to find it difficult to be vulnerable. They can come off as tough but are real softies on the inside. We have to say though, it’s a pretty comfortable way of falling asleep.

The yearner

This position is where you sleep on your side with your arms stretched out as if you’re reaching for something. People who sleep in this position are open-minded and not so gullible. They are slightly indecisive but are very headstrong once their mind is made up.

Pillow hugger

People who need to hug a pillow while sleeping like to feel warm and protected. They are extremely affectionate and nurturing towards the people close to them. Pillow huggers also love to daydream and tend to be goal-oriented and good crisis-solvers.
