There are days when you don’t want to move out of bed. Your head tells you to get up and log in some workout but your heart isn’t willing to let go of cozy covers. For days like these, there are a whole bunch of exercises you can do from the comfort of your bed. Vesna P Jacob, holistic fitness guru, Pilates expert and author, shows us five exercises that you need to cop right now. “My style of teaching the movement is not only about proper posture and alignment, but also about creating small pockets of exercises which can be done in different places and in different situations. One of the most available and accessible ways of squeezing in some extra movements is definitely while lying in bed watching television. For me this is a great time to do some additional abdominal work. Sometimes I will do these exercises during watching a movie but if you find it too distractive, then do it during the ad breaks or make a small break to get them done. All you need is a towel” says Vesna.
As you’re lying in the bed, place your hands on the back of your head and lift the legs off the mattress just a few inches and move them swiftly up and down. Repeat it 10-20 times.
Hold one foot with the towel and lift the other leg up and down 15 times. Repeat on the other side.
From the same position in cursive language spell your name and the last name 3 times. To add fun spell the names of friends of family members with really long names.
Support your head with the towel, lift one leg up while the other is bent and twist towards the lifted leg 15 times. Repeat the same on the other side. To challenge yourself lift the other leg off the bed as well and stretch it out about the mattress.
Take a towel and place it under the head while holding the edges with your hands. Knees are bent and on the bed. Inhale and as you exhale pull yourself up. Repeat 15 times.
