5 Reasons Why You Should Watch The Army of the Dead on Netflix RN!

The newly released zombie thriller on Netflix—Army of the Dead--is Zack Snyder’s second movie in this genre after Dawn of the Dead (2004). The film recreates a world in the midst of a zombie apocalypse where the undead have been sequestered in Las Vegas. There’s a plan in place to get rid of them. A nuclear bomb is expected to flatten Vegas and wipe out the zombies. But the plans go awry due to a few greedy humans. What unravels next is an interesting set of twists and turns with some nail biting action. We list five reasons below on why it should be on your watch list

1. In the current pandemic as we continue to be confined indoors, you would find the state of the sequestered zombies relatable. It’s a case of reel imitating real.

2. The movie features an interesting and diverse cast Scott Ward, a mercenary played by Dave Bautista, is approached by Billionaire Bly (Hiroyuki Sanada) to put together a team to rescue $200 million lying in one of Las Vegas’ casinos now under zombie control. The team Scott puts together includes a chainsaw-yielding Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), helicopter pilot Marianne (Tig Notaro), and the nerdy Dieter (Matthias Schweighofer). And there’s our own Huma Qureshi too, who plays Geeta, a single mom trying to flee a refugee centre with the help of human smuggler Lilly (Nora Arnezeder).

3. The zombies in the movie get a contemporary upgrade too, they are fast moving and quite agile unlike the usual mindless shuffle that we know them for. What’s more, there’s a zombie tiger too by the name of Valentine.

4. There’s enough action in the entire span of 148 minutes, explosions, gun shots, decapitations, bursting heads. But there’s also some light humour, emotional curves and loads of style in this movie.

5. The music too deserves a mention. Snyder’s movies are known for featuring captivating sound tracks and Army of the Dead doesn’t disappoint. It features lilting covers of CCR’s ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and The Doors’ ‘The End’ and an acoustic version of The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’.
