This is How to Stop Facebook From Tracking Your Internet Activity

Have you ever logged in to Facebook to see the contents of your online shopping basket advertised around your Timeline? A bit scary, right?

Facebook recently announced that it will now be able to track your internet activity. From this information, it will target you with adverts it thinks you'd be interested in.

But don't worry, there's a simple way to turn it off.

David Carroll, Professor of Media Design at The New School, has shared some simple steps to stop Facebook tracking your activity. The Professor wrote on Twitter that he discovered Facebook had defaulted him back into ad tracking, and warned people to check their settings because Facebook may have 'opted you back in without notice or consent'.

Though Facebook replied, 'We didn't change our settings back'.

If you want to opt out of ad tracking, follow these steps:

1) Open your Facebook settings

2) Select 'Adverts' on the left toolbar3) Under both 'Adverts based on my use of websites and apps' and 'Ads on apps and websites off of the Facebook Companies', change the Yes to No4) And there you have it! No more Facebook tracking

3) Under both 'Adverts based on my use of websites and apps' and 'Ads on apps and websites off of the Facebook Companies', change the Yes to No

4) And there you have it! No more Facebook tracking

If you don't mind receiving targeted adverts but you're curious about what information Facebook has extracted from your browsing history so far, follow these steps:
