It's not called beauty sleep for nothing.

1. Sleep on a satin pillowcase

A cotton pillowcase can cause more wrinkles than the slippery satin variety because there's more friction and your face can't easily slide against the rougher material. This means your skin can crinkle much like the fabric.

2. Apply an eye mask or serum

There are so many products on the market which can help fight wrinkles and along with serums, you can also leave hydrating masks on overnight. Look for ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid which can hold 1000 times its weight in water for a SERIOUS  moisture boost.

3. Amp up your skin routine with retinol or Retin-A

Retinol and Retin-A are both part of the Vitamin A camp, the former you'll find in products straight off-the-shelf and the latter needing to be prescribed due to its stronger concentration. Both ingredients work to smooth your skin and can help minimise fine lines, they can also help clear breakout-prone skin. It's important to speak to your GP about using these products correctly, especially the Retin-A, as you can experience side effects such as redness and photosensitivity.

4. Make a pillow fort

Most health professionals recommend sleeping on your back for alignment, but it also assists with preventing wrinkles. If you find lying like you're in a coffin uncomfortable, try placing pillows all around you so you feel more supported and less likely to roll over during the night.

5. Stay hydrated

Load up on H2O throughout the day to ensure your skin is hydrated and plump, which will help to fill out any fine lines and the removal of toxins overnight (which can affect your skin) will be more easily removed because you've got water flushing them through.

6. Get enough ZZZZzzzzZZzz

Your skin repairs and rejuvenates while you sleep, so if you're not getting enough shuteye that recovery doesn't happen, meaning you can be more susceptible to wrinkles.

7. Don't let the air-conditioning or fan blast directly into your face

The constant air blowing on your skin can wick away moisture and make you feel dehydrated (causing fine lines), so set them to oscillate around the room if you can.

8. Ensure you've eaten enough nutrients

Colourful fruit and veggies are packed full of antioxidants which help make your skin stronger and better able to resist damage that can lead to wrinkles, along with helping you glow. So you'll wake up looking radiant and less creased.

9. Avoid alcohol

Alcohol has the ability to make your face look puffy and swollen, because fluid can build up around your eyes and cheeks while you're lying flat, making your wrinkles look more obvious. Booze is also dehydrating, meaning your skin will be more susceptible to lots of fine, dehydration-induced lines.
