Joe Jonas' rep has issued a response to a TMZ report claiming that Sophie Turner has filed legal docs claiming he is illegally keeping their children in NYC and preventing them from returning with her to England. In a statement to Page Six, the rep said Jonas thought that he and Turner were meeting on Sunday to work on an "amicable co-parenting set-up," which the “harsh legal position” taken by Turner goes against.
“Less than 24 hours later, Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the UK. Thereafter, she demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately,” the rep said, adding that “Joe is seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father, and is of course also okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the UK.”
As for claims that Turner found out Jonas had filed for divorce via the media, Jonas's rep said she was "aware" that he planned to file due to "multiple conversations." They also added “This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted.”
The rep went on to say that “Joe has already disavowed any and all statements purportedly made on his behalf that were disparaging of Turner. They were made without his approval and are not consistent with his views.”
