In a brief and super heartbreaking Instagram post, Liam wrote "Hi all, Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward." He also said he hasn't spoken to the media, despite The Daily Mail claiming that he'd told reporters "You don't understand what it's like, I don't want to talk about it, mate."

"This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets," he wrote. "Any reported quotes attributed to me are false.

News of Miley and Liam's split broke over the weekend, when Miley's rep confirmed the breakup to People:
