So Now People Are Mad About Prince Harry’s Instagram Account

• Prince Harry is being criticised for his Instagram account by a royal expert.

Nowadays, everyone and their mothers have some sort of social-media account. Most royals do, too, in the form of joint accounts, like @TheRoyalFamily, Kate Middleton and Prince William’s @KensingtonRoyal one, or Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s @ClarenceHouse. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle even got with the times and made their own account, @SussexRoyal, but now Harry is being criticised for it.

Harry and Meghan made their Insta back in April after splitting from Kate and Will’s account, and royal expert Caroline Frost has a lot to say about it. Mainly, she thinks Harry is being a major hypocrite because he previously talked about how social media can be damaging to people’s mental health.

Talking to Sky News, the commentator said, “So we had Prince Harry telling a young audience ‘stay away from social media, it can damage your mental health, please live lives in balance and stop worrying about how you look.’” She added, “Literally the very next day, they launched their Instagram account. So I think there’s a little bit of management perhaps that needs to be improved.”

To be fair to Harry, yeah, he was definitely talking about the dangers of scrolling through social media for hours and people comparing their lives to others and getting down on themselves.

Speaking at a London YMCA event in April, he said:

“[It’s important that] younger people coming through are less connected to their phones–well, they can be just as connected to their phones if they want to be, but they have to have the human connection as well. Without that human connection, when you do have a problem you have nowhere to go. And the only place you might go is back online.”

Also, Harry and Meghan’s posts tend to spotlight different charities and organisations that are helping people and major news events that are impacting the world, so maybe Caroline should cut them some slack.
