Karan Johar takes the crown of being Bollywood's most influential launchpad, and proudly so. With his blockbuster of a movie Student Of The Year, he introduced the world to three people who have now become insanely popular stars of the film frat—one of whom happens to be Alia Bhatt.

Johar is like a mentor to Alia, and the two share a relationship which is more than just professional.

In fact, Karan even revealed that he felt responsible for pushing Alia towards losing weight, and was apologetic for body-shaming her before she ventured into acting.

Recently, in an interview with Filmfare, Alia talked about how she chooses films, and decides which script to give the 'yes' nod to. "My mood at that time, the script and the director…help me decide a film."

Talking about Karan, Alia said, “Karan asked me not to do Kapoor & Sons. I said, 'No! I want to do it'. He said, 'You don’t have enough part in it'. Karan will offer you a film and then he’ll also ask you not to do it in a protective way. Later, he said, 'I’m sorry, I was wrong, you were right in doing it'." Incidentally, that film went on to become a critical and commercial hit.

Just like a protective Dad, one could say. After SOTY, Alia will be re-uniting with her mentor and best friend for his upcoming directorial venture, a period film based on the Mughal era, called Takht.
