The Internet Lost It on a Woman Who Belittled "Small" Engagement Rings

"Imagine finally being proposed to and this is the ring you're given," she wrote on Twitter.

The Internet didn't take too kindly to Twitter user @Daymjina's recent tweet on "small" engagement rings — on August 19, the young woman reportedly uploaded a photo of a simple (but stunning!) diamond ring, with the caption, "Imagine finally being proposed to and this is the ring you're given." She added a string of sob-face emojis for emphasis (yep).

The woman (whose account has recently been made private) received some serious flack from users who felt that her post was callous and, most notably, off base. "My girlfriend picked out the engagement ring she wants. It's smaller than that. The size of the ring doesn't matter," user @bigpancakeguy wrote.

Twitter's general consensus? It's about the size, magnitude and depth of the love — not about the number of carats. A series of users replied to @Daymjina's tweet, posting their own engagement rings (even their parents' engagement rings!) to hit home their point. "The ring my dad gave my mother because he just wanted to marry her," @you_want_moore shot back.

"If the size of the ring is more important to you than the man who is giving it to you, do him a favor and say no," another user wrote, reported the Daily Mail. (Since @Daymjina has restricted access to the Tweet, we can't verify this reply for ourselves.)

Responses weren't limited to a defense of petite engagement rings, however — some users wrote that, beyond the fact that they were lower-budget, they actually preferred smaller cut rings.

Of course, Daymjina could have been making a joke, after all, many people use their platforms for just that. So, let's not take what she says too much to heart.
