Autumn is in full swing, and that means the Big Three of the fall TV show lineup are back: Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, and The Vampire Diaries. And along with the binge-watching comes a wave of nostalgia and the deep desire to channel your inner Elena Gilbert, Blair Waldorf, or Rory Gilmore.

From Elena’s waist-snatching Henley tops with a hint of lace cami peeking through, to Blair Waldorf’s lace stockings, tailored trench coats, and signature pops of colour, or Rory Gilmore’s chunky cable-knit sweaters, babydoll tops, and classic boots, whoever you choose as your It Girl muse this year, you’re sure to ace your autumn fashion game and feel like you’ve been transported straight to Stars Hollow, the Upper East Side, or Mystic Falls.

Today’s it girls channelling the big three

The 2000s TV icons are back in more ways than one—and today’s It Girls are proof. Sabrina Carpenter put her own spin on the early-2000s classic with an oversized yellow knit sweater, and later, turned heads in a sculpted two-piece set at Dior’s Spring/Summer 2026 show. Bella Hadid brought cowgirl energy to the Y2K revival in a grey co-ord set featuring flared bottoms and a fitted top.

Meanwhile, Ananya Panday and Hailey Bieber have both been spotted in slogan tees that could easily belong in Lorelai Gilmore’s closet, while Jennifer Lawrence has been channelling her inner Lily van der Woodsen with her quiet luxury ensembles—chic, understated, and effortlessly elegant.

It’s safe to say the nostalgia of TV’s most iconic fall shows isn’t fading—it’s flowing straight from our screens into the wardrobes of today’s style icons. The torch has officially been passed from Blair and Serena to Sabrina and Hailey.

The 2000s media whirlwind

The 2000s revival isn’t just a fashion moment—it’s a social media movement. Hollister has brought back its beloved babydoll and Henley tops, and girls online are on the hunt. Slogan tees are bolder, bell-bottoms are back, and trench coats inspired by Gossip Girl are flooding feeds in cropped, contemporary versions from brands like Burberry and Balenciaga.

Teenagers everywhere are dressing like Elena Gilbert, Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, and the Gilmore girls, reimagining it with a 2025 twist. Think muted babydoll tops, soft colour palettes, and chunky belts. From Pinterest boards to Reels, autumn style inspiration is coming straight from the early-2000s playbook.

A sustainable

 spinoff

Like every good revival, this one comes with a twist—it’s sustainable. Just like a reboot that continues a show’s story, this fashion revival thrives on thrifting and upcycling. It’s 2000s fall fashion, but in HD.

Millennials are amused to see that the clothes they once donated for being “out of trend” are making a stylish comeback. Gen Z, on the other hand, is raiding their older siblings’ and mothers’ closets, hitting up local thrift stores, and scrolling through Instagram thrift pages to recreate the It Girl aesthetic without the carbon footprint.

The result? Outfits that are chic, nostalgic, and planet-friendly—all while capturing the effortless charm of our favourite TV heroines. Whether it’s a pre-loved trench coat that channels Blair Waldorf energy or a thrifted lace cami straight out of Elena Gilbert’s wardrobe, today’s fashion fans are proving that style revivals can be just as kind to the planet as they are to your feed.
