Zara is no stranger to accusations of copying. In fact, the brand is well-known for  its 'inspired by the catwalk' looks at prices that make every fashion girl squeal with delight.

And while some brands turn a blind eye to Zara's designs - after all, imitation is the best form of flattery - not everyone is keen to let it go unnoticed.

Because if you're world-renowned fashion house Chloe, it's one thing, but for an independent artist, it's another completely.

Which is exactly why Tuesday Bassen, whose clients have included Nike and Adidas, has called out the brand on Twitter for what she calls 'theft' of her art work.

Tuesday argues that a number of her pin designs have been ripped off by Zara and affixed to a number of their garments. She discovered this "through fans, who have sent hundreds of whistleblowing messages to [her] privately", she told The Fashion Law.

And she's not the only one.

After Tuesday called out the brand, a number of other independent artists spoke out about what they believe is copyright theft of their work, too.

Zara's response to Tuesday? Well, you can see that for yourself right here.

"I felt incredibly disheartened that Zara essentially said, 'We're a giant corporation and you're an independent artist, so you have no base and can't do anything because comparatively no one knows about you.'", Tuesday told The Fashion Law.

"I hate that I've had to spend thousands of dollars to even get that response and that Zara knows I'm essentially powerless because I have less money to defend myself than they do."

Tuesday isn't about to drop the fight, though and has been rallying on Twitter for other artists and the media to stand up to Zara.

A spokesperson for the company said to Buzzfeed News in a statement: "Inditex respects any third party's creativity and takes all claims concerning third party intellectual property rights very seriously.

"On receiving these allegations, the relevant items were immediately suspended from sale and an investigation opened. In parallel, Inditex's legal team also contacted Tuesday Bassen's lawyers to clarify and resolve the situation. Inditex has more than 600 designers in house that create more than 50,000 designs a year, it has the highest respect towards each individual's creativity and will investigate this specific case to its end."
