How does ‘And Just Like That...’ end? Let’s break it down

Because it's certifiably insane.

Look, the producers and showrunners of And Just Like That... have made a variety of baffling choices since the show premiered. And I have defended a lot of them because I simply love to have Carrie and co. back on my screen. But the series finale of And Just Like That... just aired and it is such an odd place to end the show that I felt the need to come here and break it down so I can check that I'm not missing any major, massive details. Here's what happens in the last 15 minutes of And Just Like That...

The episode takes place over Thanksgiving, which would be a great time to get all the families together for some shenanigans, but in a weird choice narratively, all the families are separate.

Charlotte, Harry and the kids are at their place. Harry didn't want to go to Thanksgiving at Miranda's because when he was in the midst of his battle with cancer, he told himself that he only had to make it to Thanksgiving. Because of the emotional nature of the day, he wanted to spend it in the comfort of his own home. LTW and Herbert have their kids at home, too, and the only real plot point here is that he seems to have finally gotten over the loss of the city comptroller election. Seema spends the holiday with Adam's family, which is a big deal for her as she typically shies away from this kind of thing, but she's mad she has to eat gluten free pie. I would be, too! Anthony and Giuseppe spend the day at Anthony's, confronting the idea that Anthony doesn't want to have to "mom" Giuseppe.

Most of the real action happens at Miranda's. Carrie, reeling from a solo lunch where she was shamed for being alone, goes to Miranda's and is promptly left in the dust while Miranda goes to support Joy, whose dog is in the hospital. So Carrie and Brady are left to welcome the rest of the guests. Brady's baby mama Mia brings a crew with her and is promptly a nightmare. Charlotte's boss Mark Kasabian comes and Carrie realizes that she's actually been set up on a date of sorts? It's a whole thing.

The day devolves into chaos. One of the members of the Mia crew named Epcot can't stop pooping (more on this later), another is doing a whole dance routine, while Mia is actually coming around to Miranda. After the meal, Mia and her friends take off and Mark goes to use the bathroom. The toilet overflows (yes, seriously, we literally see poop come out of the toilet), and he leaves. He and Carrie's chances of going on a real date seem slim to none. Joy shows up, her dog resting comfortably at home after surgery, to help Miranda.

The show ends with a montage of the crew in their respective homes eating pie, and Carrie is alone at her massive house. She rewrites the epilogue of her book to say, "The woman realized she was not alone - she was on her own."

And... that's it. I legitimately can't believe we spent so much of the And Just Like That... SERIES FINALE on POOP. I mean, I guess I'm happy that Carrie is coming to terms with the idea of being single and not jumping into a relationship with a new man, but this is also a little sad? I'm not a person who needs Carrie to end up with a man, but I literally had to do a lap after I watched this. If you need me, I'll be rewatching the original series over again, to soothe the ache in my heart.
