Lonavala just got its first sky bar—and it comes with cocktails, clouds, and a view

Lonavala has long been the go-to destination for anyone looking to escape the noise of the city, especially during the monsoons. The cloudy weather, hilly landscapes, and xxx have added to it's undeniable charm. Add to that a rooftop lounge with incredible food and cocktails, and a vibe to die for, and you have the ultimate dining spot, that's tempting enough even for a day's trip. We're talking about the newly opened Marquee restaurant at Radisson Resort & Spa Lonavala, housing the first-ever sky bar in Lonavala. Picture this: cocktails under the clouds, sushi by candlelight, and stargazing that feels like a movie moment. 

The perfect backdrop for a misty experience 

Set against the backdrop of the Sahyadris, Marquee is an elevated escape in every sense—stylish, spacious, and designed to impress. With panoramic hill views, moody lighting, and plush lounges, it brings a distinct charm to Lonavala’s dining scene. And yes, it’s monsoon-ready. Thanks to its cleverly designed movable roofs, you can enjoy the theatrics of the weather without getting drenched, making it the ideal spot to watch the rain roll in, cocktail in hand.

The space unfolds across three distinct zones—The Rock Bar, Eclectic Dining, and the breezy Sunset Garden—each offering a different vibe, from laid-back to luxe.

I dropped in on a rainy evening (which only added to the atmosphere), and the experience delivered. Highlights? A 25-foot sculptural bar, chefs at work in open kitchens, illusionists floating through the room, and a cocktail that genuinely tasted like summer in a glass.

Signature cocktails and flavour-packed plates

When it comes to drinks, Marquee’s signature cocktail and mocktail menu is a clear standout. My favourite was the chai on the moon—a non-alcoholic blend of fresh peach, rose, sparkling water, and masala chai, topped with rose petals. It’s fresh, aromatic, and just the right amount of unexpected. Other highlights include the zesty sundown horizon, the lavender-toned twilight, the indulgent tiki odyssey, and the fruity-floral lunar orchard. Whether you prefer bold pours or something booze-free, there’s something here for every kind of drinker.

The food at Marquee was most memorable, so much so that you're gonna want to come back. We started our meal with a rainbow maki, which tasted just as incredible as it looked. We followed that with a rich, comforting Thai green curry and a crispy black gold pan-fried vegetable gyoza. The latter was among my favourites, along with the mushroom tortellini and spicy pomelo salad with roasted coconut, which had a fresh, well-balanced contrast. 

Seafood lovers must try the stir-fried whole pomfret, while the Shanghai-style lamb chops are tender, flavourful, and a must for meat-eaters. And of course, we can't forget the desserts. It was a tough selection between the lemongrass panna cotta and the infinity chocolate and hazelnut tart. The former had a fresh citrusy-creamy flavour, perfect for those who prefer lighter desserts that aren't too sweet, while the tart is a chocolate lover's dream and probably reason enough to return to Lonavala.

What really sets Marquee apart is how effortlessly it merges luxury with laid-back energy. There’s something magical about watching the sky shift from golden to indigo while sipping a craft cocktail and catching up with your favourite people. Whether it’s date night, your birthday bash, or a spontaneous road trip with the girls, this rooftop escape is a must-add to your Lonavala bucket list.

And just so you know, there are already plans to take this party to Mumbai and Goa soon. But for now? The hills are calling—and they’re dressed in gold, clinking glasses, and waiting for you.
