This Guy Just Perfectly Called Out the Selfie Double Standard Between Men and Women

There's an unwritten rule on Imgur that selfies are not allowed. Every so often though, one slips through and user Plummyr pointed out that when they do, women are hardcore shamed for posting pictures of themselves whereas men are ~*just being hilarious*~.

The comments on the woman's photo you see above ranged from "Thinly veiled 'tell me I'm pretty!'. Unacceptable." to "Oh my god fuck off."

Reactions to the man's selfie were quite different: "I up voted this purely because OP [original poster] is ridiculously handsome," one person wrote. Others chimed in just to agree with that commenter. 

Plummyr goes on to give several other examples of women's selfies getting bashed for breaking the rules. He also noted he's seen several close-to-naked photos of women on Imgur and no one seems to have a problem with those ... before posting he himself is "not some femenistic [sic] rights person," he just thinks "you all need to stop being little bitches when it comes to selfies with a reason, yet overwhelmingly support every slut in their attempt to do the same.​"
