5 Best Lip Colours From the Autumn/Winter 2019 Lookbook

Each season brings with it a tonne of trends...but the best ones are those that don’t just look striking, but also reserve a permanent spot in your Little Black Book of beauty.

Trends today are no longer like meteors—destined to last for a flash, and then disappear into oblivion. In fact, if we’ve learned anything by endlessly observing the runways across the world, it is that trends are cyclical, and every major one definitely has a sequel. The classics are constantly being redefined, colours no longer have a seasonal value, and precision is not the keyword anymore. Beauty, especially, is more fluid today, and messing with diktats to write your own rules is totally A-okay!

Let’s start with lips.

Pastels for summer and deep hues for winter...if that’s what you’ve always believed in, it’s time to unlearn a few things. With bright shades sneaking into winter wardrobes, pop pinks, corals and oranges too have crossed the seasonal barrier to win a spot—check GCDS and Versace. Red is a classic, but it’s been upping its game constantly to keep up with the times—expect a shade spectrum ranging from super-bright to super-deep in glossy, creamy, and matte finishes. Then there are the staple deeper hues like burgundy, purples, and browns that are still going strong. What we love, though, is the two-toned approach, and the use of unusual shades like blackish-green (à la Marni) to lend a punk vibe.
