DIY Masks for Gorgeous Hair at Home

The last salon visit has now become a distant memory. You don’t know when you can fix your next appointment with your hair stylist or get a hair spa done. If your hair has started looking dull and lifeless or frizzy or you have been losing hair and let’s not get into the splits end discussion, you need to give your hair a dose of nourishment. The best part is you can feed your mane simple ingredients from the kitchen. 
However, with an excess of DIY recipes flooding the internet, how do you sift hair heroes from the duds? Dr. Blossom Kochhar, founder of Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic, helps you make up your mind by sharing super-easy hair mask recipes to tackle myriad hair problems.        

DIY mask for shine and softness

•    Mash 1 banana
•    Add some milk powder or some milk
•    Add 1 spoonful of honey

Directions: Mix all the ingredients together and apply it all over your hair. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off in the shower.

Benefits: Bananas nourish the scalp and hair follicles, help maintain natural hair elasticity, and prevent breakage and split ends. Honey, which is a natural humectant, adds moisture and shine to the hair. This is like a natural conditioner for your hair. 

2. DIY mask for hair growth

•    Mash half avocado, until its soft and mushy
•    Add a spoonful of yoghurt
•    Add 1 tablespoon of extra virgin oil

Directions: Mix all the three ingredients well, massage it into the scalp and till the ends of the strands. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it of with cold water for best results.

Benefits: Lactic acid in yoghurt helps to clear the scalp thoroughly; Vitamin E in avocado repairs damaged hair and stimulates hair growth, while adding moisture to the hair.

3. DIY Mask for flakes and dandruff

•    Soak 2 spoonful of fenugreek seeds in water overnight
•    In the morning make a paste of the seeds and apply it on the head for half an hour

Directions: Mix all the ingredients well. Wash your hair using a herbal shampoo. Follow this twice a week to cure dandruff.

Benefits: The anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of fenugreek keep the scalp healthy and clean. 

DIY mask for arresting hair fall

•    Add 10g of powdered lime seeds 
•    Add 10g of powdered black pepper
•    Add some water or ginger juice to make a paste

Directions: Mix all the ingredients well, apply it every night, leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse it off before bed

Benefits: This will help you to prevent excess hair fall.
