From soothing skin inflammations to treating skin discoloration disorders, cosmetologist and founder of Inatur, Ms Pooja Nagdev shares 6 DIY concoctions that can do absolute wonders for your skin.

Saffron Ubtan For Tan Removal

To whip up a natural saffron ubtan at home, you require the following ingredients:

1 tablespoon Bengal gram

1 teaspoon sandalwood powder

A pinch of turmeric powder

Juice of ½ lemon

A few strands of saffron soaked in yogurt

Mix the above ingredients and apply the paste over your face, neck, back, arms, and legs. Leave it on for approximately 20 minutes and remove by massaging in a circular motion. Follow this procedure daily, for a week, and notice a remarkable improvement in your complexion.

Egg White and Honey Mask For Skin Firming

While egg whites and honey are known for their superior health benefits, they also improve skin elasticity given their ability to induce skin cell regeneration. Honey is also a powerful antioxidant and maximises hydration to your skin.

Take an egg and separate the yolk to obtain the egg white. Mix the egg white with 1 tablespoon of honey. For those of you with dry skin, add a tablespoon of olive oil to the mix. Beat the above ingredients well to form a blended liquid and apply the concoction to your face and neck using your fingertips or a brush. Let it rest for 10 minutes and rinse thereafter. Apply this natural mask once a week for desired results.

Jojoba Oil, Neem Oil and Kalonji Powder Body Polish

This is an anti-bacterial body polish for deep cleansing and a skin detox. It is especially beneficial for those who suffer from skin allergies. Take 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil,1 tablespoon of neem oil, 1 tablespoon of finely crushed kalonji powder and ½ a teaspoon of honey. Mix and blend the above mentioned ingredients well and apply over the desired areas of your body.

Olive Oil, Sugar and Rose Body Polish

Excessively hydrating and nourishing, this homemade body polish is ideal for sensitive skin. Take ½ a cup of dried and powdered rose petals, 1 tablespoon of crushed sugar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of shea butter (or any other body butter) and 2-3 drops of rose essential oil. Mix and blend the above mentioned ingredients well and apply over the desired areas of your body.

Chironji Seeds and Raw Milk Mask For Skin Brightening

Those who undergo skin pigmentation disorders experience discoloration of their skin. Pigmentation attacks melanin, which is produced by the cells in the skin and is responsible for your skin's colour. Hyperpigmentation is a condition that causes your skin to darken. To fight the apparent signs of skin pigmentation, soak 10-12 chironji seeds in raw milk. Let it stand for 10 minutes till the seeds get soft and break. Make a paste of the same and apply it over the face. Repeat this process on alternate days.

Rosehip Oil and Tea Tree Oil Serum For Skin Brightening

It's no lie that our skin undergoes restorative and regenerative processes while we are asleep. As a result, application of a serum or any other skincare essential at night works wonders on the skin overnight. To create a brightening serum at home, take 20ml of rosehip oil and break in 5 Vitamin E capsules into it. For those of you with oily skin, add 10-12 drops of tea tree essential oil to the mix. Shake it well and store it in a glass bottle, for daily application before bedtime.

Cooling Agents to Sooth Skin Inflammations and Acne

More often than not, it is those with oily and acne-prone skin that are apprehensive about trying out a range of skin treatments and beauty procedures. If we're talking about you, opt for natural remedies such as cucumber juice, Aloe Vera gel, oats powder, a honey and curd mask, or tomato juice. These ingredients are enriched with anti-inflammatory properties that give way to soft, supple skin, and are ideal for those with a sensitive skin type.
