Skincare Expert Shares EXACTLY How Many Steps You Need in Your Beauty Routine

Whether you like the quick, easy wash-and-go skincare routine or a luxurious 7-step-Korean beauty regime, getting the basics right is all you need to get clear and glowing skin.

Plastic and aesthetic surgeon Dr Shilpi Bhadani, founder of SB Aesthetics in Gurugram sorts out your beauty woes for a minimalist skincare routine that actually works!

She says, "As famously said by someone, the best skincare is the care you can do consistently. There are many products available in the market, but the important thing is the sequence in which you use these products. As per my experience and knowledge of the various cosmetic products, the ideal sequence that one must follow to achieve maximum benefits should proceed as mentioned below."

Ideal morning and night routine

"Start off by washing your face gently and dabbing it dry. Don't rub your face with a towel! Then, apply a hyaluronic acid-based moisturiser. Let it get absorbed in the skin and then, it is the time for the antioxidant serums followed by sunscreen. You must re-apply sunscreen during the day."

The ONLY products you need...

"You need 3-4 basic steps for a minimalist beauty regime. I feel skin toners are an overhyped product. It is not really a must. The cleanser is an absolute must, so is a sunscreen for UV protection. Then, a moisturiser to maintain hydration and an antioxidant Vitamin C serum."

The correct order of application

"After cleansing the face well, people with acne-prone skin may apply toner if they would like, others can skip this. Your serum goes in second spot treatment and leave it on for a recommended time. Finish up with a moisturiser for the night time and sunscreen for day time. The sunscreen goes directly on the skin, so definitely apply that before the makeup."
