“I was eight when I acted in my first play. I played the role of a monkey. But I couldn’t have imagined that dancing as a monkey in front of an audience could give me so much joy! At that time, everyone in my class wanted to be a doctor, or a pilot, but I remember getting up and saying, ‘Main hero banoonga!’. It’s been a long journey from to Delhi to Mumbai...full of rejections, of assisting casting directors, of being an assistant director on ad films and plays, and a lot more. But I’ve loved it all. Contrary to my public persona, I am actually pretty shy. And I have a bit of social anxiety, which only my close friends know about. I need somebody to lean on and hold my hand at new social gatherings! Off screen, I am also a slave to my animals: two cats here in Mumbai and a dog in Delhi. You can say I like animals more than people!”
