Yup, yet another Bollywood couple made their way to the celebrity-favourite destination, Maldives, last week. To ring in a special 47th birthday—and 2022—Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, along with their daughter Nitara, jetted off to the island nation to unwind. The family stayed at the Soneva luxury resort in the Maldives, far, far away from the complexities of city life, savouring a much-needed break. 

 

 

Tina, as she is fondly called, took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her #birthdaybreak, strolling along the turquoise blue, clear waters of the Indian ocean. "Birthday celebrations have already begun with trapping golden sunlight within the pores of my skin, my hair salty from the hazy blue sea, and my heart filled to the brim," she wrote in her post. 

Akshay Kumar also took to social media to share snippets from his tropical getaway. In one post, he held a speaker over his shoulder, listening to an Arijit Singh song 'on loop', with his daughter Nitara making a swift appearance in the background. On Twinkle Khanna's 47th birthday, he took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of the celebrations; Twinkle and him lounging on a net hammock suspended over the ocean. Although, the highlight of the Maldives trip—we speak on behalf of netizens!—was when Akshay rang in the New Year by chanting the Gayatri Mantra during sunrise. The video of the actor stepping into 2022 praying caught the attention of fans and went viral across social media. "New year, same me. Woke up and greeted my old friend, the sun, and started my 2022 with all things positive except for Covid. Praying for everyone’s good health and happiness. Tina also extended wishes for the New Year via Instagram and said, "The Earth, after twirling and hurtling for 365 days is back to square one and so are we. Here’s to another year of juggling and hustling and keeping it together even when it’s all up in the air." On the work front, Akshay Kumar recently appeared in Aanand L Rai's Atrangi Re, alongside Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush. He bid adieu to 2021 with two blockbuster movies in his name, Bell Bottom and Sooryavanshi, and has exciting projects including Prithviraj, Ram Setu, Bachchan Panday, OMG – Oh My God 2, and Raksha Bandhan in the pipeline.
