Inside Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar’s Intimate Wedding

Actor and director Frahan Akhtar married long time girlfriend Shibani Dandekar on February 19th in his father, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi’s farmhouse Sukoon in Khandala. Given the pandemic, the couple kept the celebrations simple and only close friends and family were invited. 

While pre-wedding functions like sangeet and mehendi were held in Mumbai at Farhan’s house, where Shibani’s sisters Anusha and Apeksha and her friend Rhea Chakroborty were seen grooving to peppy Bollywood numbers, the wedding venue was ideally located away from the hustle bustle of city life. 

The farmhouse was beautifully done up in elaborate floral decorations, the bride wore a floral red gown replete with a red veil and sandals. Farhan looked dapper in an all-black suit with a coordinating bow tie. However, the guests made for some stunning fashion moments as well. Hrithik Roshan came with his parents dressed in a beige kurta-pyjama and a pink jacket, actor Saquib Saleem too wore a traditional kurta-pyjama with jacket and so did filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Other celebrities at the wedding included director Ashutosh Gowariker, composer Ehsaan Noorani, director and choreographer Farah Khan and the groom’s sister Zoya Akhtar among many others. 

A video from the function that did the the rounds on social media on the day of the wedding shows Farhan-Shibani and Hrithik grooving to the ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ title track, which was being sung by Shankar Mahadevan at the venue. Later, Hrithik Roshan took over the stage to dance with Farhan Akhtar on Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’s popular track ‘Senorita.’ The video shows Farhan and Hrithik trying to recall the hook-step. The couple exchanged vows, instead of a traditional Marathi wedding ceremony or a nikah. The couple zeroed in on this decision, keeping each other's religious backgrounds and beliefs in mind. Their wedding guest list included Meiyang Chang, Gaurav Kapoor, Samir Kochar, Monica Dogra, Ritesh Sidwani and Rhea Chakraborty too.

 

Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar made their entry to the wedding venue grooving to the peppy number Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara! The couple even sang for each other. While Shibani performed on John Legend's All Of Me, Farhan beautifully sang Rock On's song Tum Ho Toh.
