1. Priyanka Chopra

We all know about the groundbreaking performance that was given by global icon Priyanka Chopra in the biopic based on the life of Olympic bronze medallist boxer, M.C Mary Kom. The film received a lot of critical acclaim, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audiences. But did you know that the bald look PeeCee sported in a crucial sequence of the film was for real? Yes, to quote Priyanka:

"Mary has done it (gone bald) in her life. This is an authentic scene in the film and I was very excited about it. First of all I am an actor, so as an actor it is my responsibility that whatever character I take up I do it with honesty. This is always my personal challenge that I set for myself that how differently I can portray all my characters. So I was not at all hesitant, in fact I was very excited."

2. Anushka Sharma

Anushka played the role of 'Alizeh' in Karan Johar's romantic flick Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Towards the end of the movie, Anushka essays the role of a cancer patient, and to add a genuine touch to the role, she is shown sporting a bald look. But most people assume it was a bald cap, and the celeb didn't really go bald for the film.

After a brief stint in Bollywood in a super-glam avatar, the actress was seen in a completely de-glamorised look in Amol Palekar's film And Once Again. The film was being produced by Sangrila Kreations and also starred Rajat Kapoor and Rituparna Sengupta among others. A source revealed, "Antara was quite kicked about Amol's film and loved the narration. She immediately agreed to sign the film and didn't think twice about shaving her head, because her role, which is that of a female monk in Sikkim, requires it."

5. Shabana Azmi

Deepa Mehta's controversial film Water had Shabana Azmi in a pivotal role, for which she has to even shave her head. The movie was based on the lives of the widow. But owing to the umpteen controversies surrounding the film, the veteran actress opted out of the movie. Shabana was quoted by a leading daily—

"I was bald at Farhan's wedding and still sported a patta of sindoor, chunky earrings and big bangles. I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy but the kids were loving it. You must surprise people every once in a while and I do it in my own style."
