Fashion enthusiasts reveal their favourite pieces from homegrown brands

For the love of local!

Three fashion enthusiasts let us in on their most-treasured pieces by Indian designers.

“The co-ord set I am wearing is from a home-grown, Jaipur based brand called the House of Mae. I discovered this brand via Instagram...Luckily, I was travelling to Jaipur at the time, and got to shop from the brand. What I love about the set is the silhouette. And this three-piece ensemble is so versatile—it gives me numerous styling opportunities. For days when I am running errands, I like to style the pants with a white shirt and a pair of comfortable sandals. For accessories, I like to throw on a bucket hat when it’s sunny outside. And at night, I like to style the bralette with a midi-skirt and boots.”

“My favourite piece has to be this muted co-ord set by Graine. It’s the details of the set that I particularly adore—the addition of multicoloured tassels against a monotone, beige palette. A great thing about this home-grown brand is that it is sustainable...this particular outfit is made from sustainable materials featuring the traditional Bakhiya stitch. I like to style this set in various ways, one  of them being with a pair of mules or sandals during the day...and heels for a more formal touch at night.”

“This outfit is from my favourite Indian label called QUOD by Ikshit Pande. I first explored the brand when I had just begun my modelling career. QUOD was one of the first few labels I shot for, and that’s why this home-grown brand is so special to me... The brand is equal parts feminine and sustainable, and I always enjoy styling this piece. At first glance, it looks like a dress, but isn’t. It features three separates... For the day, I like to pair the red, ruffled shirt with trousers and sneakers. For the night, I pair the top with solid details with a black skirt and stilettoes. And for a special event, I bring all three separates together and receive many compliments!”
